## Purpose

Counts weekday-baseline working days in a date range for any supported CLDR alpha-2 territory code, with explicit endpoint rules and no hidden holiday assumptions.

**Use when:** You need a worldwide weekday-based count for a stated territory and public holidays are intentionally outside scope.

**Do not use when:** The count must reflect public holidays, substitute days, employer closures, bank settlement, exchange, school or religious calendars.

## Example user requests

- How many weekday-baseline working days are between 2026-10-01 and 2026-10-15 in AE?
- Count Saudi weekday working days from 2026-06-01 through 2026-06-30.

## Output

| Field | Type | Unit | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `normalized_start_date` | date |  | Earlier endpoint. |
| `normalized_end_date` | date |  | Later endpoint. |
| `working_days` | integer | working days | Weekday-baseline working dates counted. |

| `calendar_days_counted` | integer | days | Total included dates. |
| `territory` | string |  | Normalized uppercase CLDR territory code. |
| `territory_display_name` | string | | Calcgrid display name; TW is displayed as 中国台湾省 while the machine code remains TW. |
| `weekend_days` | string_list |  | Territory weekend convention from CLDR. |
| `calendar_scope` | string |  | weekday_pattern_only; public holidays are intentionally not included. |
| `holiday_policy` | string |  | public_holidays_not_included for this global baseline. |
| `calendar_profile` | string |  | Machine-readable profile id: global-weekday-baseline. |
| `calendar_selection_catalog_url` | string |  | Use this catalog before selecting a jurisdiction-specific holiday package. |
| `dataset_version` | string |  | Pinned CLDR weekend-data version. |
| `source_url` | string |  | Pinned CLDR JSON source. |

## Formula

`for each included date: working_days += not is_weekend; non_working_days += is_weekend`

Normalize reversed endpoints, apply endpoint inclusion flags and count only the CLDR weekend pattern. Public holidays are not inferred.

```
## Limitations
The count must reflect public holidays, substitute days, employer closures, bank settlement, exchange, school or religious calendars. Normalize reversed endpoints, apply endpoint inclusion flags and count only the CLDR weekend pattern. Public holidays are not inferred. All values are computed from the formula above; no measurement or live data is involved.
## FAQ
**Are endpoints included?**
Yes by default; set either flag false to exclude it.
**Does this count national holidays?**
This is a global weekday baseline, not a public-holiday, bank-settlement, exchange, school, employer, religious or emergency-closure calendar. Use a jurisdiction-specific evidence package when holiday exclusions matter.
