## Purpose

Counts working and non-working dates in a 2026-2028 range using OpenWorkdays national-scope public-holiday data and country weekend rules.

**Use when:** You need a broad national-scope reference count and regional or employer semantics are not required.

**Do not use when:** The range needs a direct official authority, regional/local or employer calendar, or dates outside 2026-2028.

## Example user requests

- Count broad-reference working days in Australia from 2026-10-01 through 2026-10-15.

## Output

| Field | Type | Unit | Description |

| `public_holidays_counted` | list |  | Source public-holiday events in the range. |
| `territory` | string |  | Normalized uppercase country code. |
| `territory_name` | string | | Calcgrid display name; TW is displayed as 中国台湾省 while the machine code remains TW. |

| `calendar_scope` | string |  | National reference plus country weekend and explicit working-weekend dates. |
| `calendar_profile` | string |  | global-working-day-reference. |
| `substitute_day_policy` | string |  | Source flags are preserved; no new substitute-day rule is inferred. |
| `source_quality` | string |  | Open derived reference, not a direct national authority feed. |
| `dataset_version` | string |  | Pinned OpenWorkdays snapshot version. |
| `coverage_start` | date |  | First supported date. |

## Formula

`for each included date: working_days += reference status.is_working_day; non_working_days += not is_working_day`

Normalize reversed endpoints, apply endpoint flags, and count source country weekends plus public-holiday events.

## Data Sources

- OpenWorkdays generated public-holiday and working-day data — https://openworkdays.com/api/v1/countries.json (open_derived_reference, retrieved 2026-09-28)

Data freshness: `static`. Pinned OpenWorkdays 2026-2028 snapshot.

## Example

- Australia October reference range: inputs `{"start_date":"2026-10-01","end_date":"2026-10-15","territory":"AU","include_start_date":true,"include_end_date":true}` → `{"working_days":11}`

```
GET https://tttkmbb.com/api/v1/calculate/global-reference-working-days-between?start_date=2026-10-01&end_date=2026-10-15&territory=AU&include_start_date=true&include_end_date=true
```

## Limitations

The range needs a direct official authority, regional/local or employer calendar, or dates outside 2026-2028. Normalize reversed endpoints, apply endpoint flags, and count source country weekends plus public-holiday events. All values are computed from the formula above; no measurement or live data is involved.

## FAQ

**Does this prove an employer's schedule?**

This is a broad national-scope reference generated from an open rules-based library. It may omit regional, employer, bank, exchange, school or one-off authority closures, and future lunar/late-proclaimed dates can be marked estimated. Verify material legal, payroll, banking or settlement decisions against the responsible authority.

**What happens outside 2026-2028?**

The calculator fails closed with OUT_OF_RANGE.
